The Bhojpuri film industry, popularly known as Bhojiwood, is thriving. Several Bhojiwood movies have made it to the Rs. 10 crore mark and have broken new ground. In 2017, Bhojiwood is expected to cross the Rs.10 crore mark and reach the International Bhojpuri Film Awards.
Bhojpuri films are shot in various parts of the state. Madhubani, Darbhanga, Rajpipla and Umargaon have emerged as hotspots for shooting.

Social media users divided over the suspension of the four constables
The Uttar Pradesh Police (UPP) has suspended four female constables after a video of them dancing to a Bhojpuri song surfaced on social media. Though the suspension is being met with mixed reactions, many people feel that it is wrong to suspend women for their entertainment. While others say that there is no harm in dancing, some claim that the suspension of female police officers is demoralizing for young girls. It is a violation of the rights of these women and it is unfair to them.

The four constables were not wearing uniforms when they were seen in the video. They are said to have been sent to their respective district lines for questioning.
